Malaysian golfer compensated by A’Famosa resort

 

 

The Malaysian High Court Thursday ordered a Resort named A’Famosa to pay 43,000 ringgit ($A14, 082.98) to Hong Kee Siong, a Malaysian businessman who was bitten by a crocodile while playing golf, state news agency Bernama said.

 

48 years-old Hong Kee Siong, a company director, who sued the resort near the historic port town of Malacca after attacked in 2004, said he was searching for a lost golf ball when he stumbled across the crocodile, which tried to drag him to a pond located on the resort's "Crocodile Nine" course, named after the local wildlife.

 

He managed to escape by striking the creature on the head, but needed 38 stitches for wounds on his left leg It was six years ago when he was attacked.

 

Its lawyer K. Anushiya reportedly said the resort had made efforts to warn golfers and members of the public about the crocodiles by erecting "caution" signs on the course.
